The building is a mixture of old and new; inside an industrial warehouse near the harbour in Tel Aviv, with materials like concrete, rusted iron contrasting with glass pivoting windows and natural mineral rock. Its refurbishment was to house a boutique furniture showroom, and provides a grand and dramatic setting, while not detracting from the products on sale. Piston Kedem Architects worked to bring the scale of the warehouse to a human level, with a transparent floating cantilever and half-glass interior walls. The exterior wall is very large with a small doorway perforating it, again, to bring the scale down upon entering. Natural light beams through from below the heavy roof, changing the space through the day, and is reflected off the polished concrete, lighting the space surprisingly effectively.
