·[ Magnus Larsson: Turning dunes into architecture.

1,000,000,000 grains of sand come into existence on earth every second.

Sand is a richly abundant material, and in combining it with bacillus pasteurii bacteria, bonds form between the grains of sand to create (essentially) sandstone. This process eliminates the need for heat into the creation of bricks, and if it were to replace the process entirely, 800,000,000 tonnes of carbon emissions would be saved annually (out of the 10,000,000,000 produced overall).
